Please note: Due to renovation measures, only a limited number of classrooms will be available in Nuremberg in September 2019!

  • How can I register?
    • Registration for the course this fall is closed. No more applications can be accepted. Furthermore, requests for subsequent registration will not be answered.
    • You can register for the upcoming intensive German language course via email from April 8, 2019 — July 26, 2019.
    • Please note that there are only a limited number of places available. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you put your name down for it as soon as possible.
    • In order to register please send the following documents to Mrs. Nina König,
      • the completed application form as a .doc file
      • a document confirming your connection to the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (e.g. confirmation of enrolment, admission letter, invitation letter), if already issued
      • if desired, the documents for a possible exemption from the placement test as stated below
    • On receipt of the complete application, we will send you an email with the information you need to transfer the participation fee (bank details, terms of payment).

  • What fees are required?
    • The participation fee is 315,- euros.
    • Due to the augmentation of lessons, we had to adjust the fee recently. We are sorry for the inconveniences this might have brought.
Any possible bank charges related to the payment of the course fee shall be borne by the course participant.
Please note that we can only assure your participation in the language course after your payment has been received. Prompt confirmation will be sent to you by email.

  • Which course level can I attend?
    • To assure homogenous language proficiency within the German courses offered at the university’s Language Center, all participants need to take a placement test.
    • There are three ways to receive a placement:
    • Absolute beginners do not have to take the placement test. They will be allocated automatically to course level A1.1. Absolute beginners are persons who have not yet visted any German course and don't know any german at all.
    • If you are already familiar with parts of the textbook used in class, this cannot justify the allocation to another course level.

    • How can I cancel?
      • Cancellations up to 7 days prior to the start of the language course are eligible for a full refund of the received participation fee less an administrative fee of 60,- euros. Any cancellation must be made in writing. The date your letter or email is received by us determines the date of cancellation.
      • Cancellations less than 7 days prior to the start of the course as well as the failure to attend class or the withdrawal from the course are not eligible for a refund.
      • Missing the first two days of the course results in the cancellation of the registration, no matter the reasons for not showing up. It is not possible to start the course on the third day. However, in case of absence due to an accident or illness, the course fee will be reimbursed.
In exceptional cases the course level that corresponds to your language skills may not be offered because participation is too low. In this case you will be allocated to the course level closest to the result of your placement test. If you then decide within the first three days of class not to continue attending the course, you will get a full refund of your course fee.

    • How many credits?
    • 5 ECTS points will be awarded for successful participation, i.e. course attendance of at least 85 percent as a general rule and successful completion of the tests, presentations, etc. assigned by the course instructor.
